LAKE SUCCESS, N.Y., June 30, 2008 – Canon U.S.A., Inc. today announced that on July 1, 2008, it will file site plans with the Town of Huntington for a new headquarters facility that will serve as the corporate headquarters for Canon Americas, overseeing more than 10,000 employees in 23 affiliate companies across North, Central and South Americas. The new Canon Americas headquarters will be built on a 52-acre site in Melville, N.Y., and will attain at least a Silver LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) status.

“This is an exciting milestone in our efforts to build a state-of-the-art headquarters facility that will serve as a model of an environmentally responsible development project, and will enable us to expand our operations. We are looking forward to being an active member of the Town of Huntington and Suffolk County communities,” said Joe Adachi, president and chief executive officer, Canon U.S.A. “I want to take this opportunity to thank our employees for their contributions to our ongoing success. We also value the outstanding relationships we have had with government officials. We greatly appreciate the efforts made by the state, county and town officials to help us remain on Long Island. We specifically thank the hard work and personal involvement of Suffolk County Executive Steve Levy, Town of Huntington Supervisor Frank Petrone and Councilman Mark Cuthbertson.”

On June 4, 2007, Canon U.S.A. announced that the Company had finalized an agreement to purchase land in Melville to build a new corporate headquarters and remain on Long Island. The site for the new Canon Americas headquarters is located just off of the Long Island Expressway, at Exit 49. The site is bordered by the Long Island Expressway service road on the North and Walt Whitman Road on the East.

Canon currently employs more than 1,000 on Long Island and leases office space in Lake Success. The site plan to be filed on July 1, 2008, calls for a 690,000-square-foot, five-story building on a park-like setting with reflecting pools, along with other sustainable innovations such as the use of natural lighting and energy efficient materials.

Eventually, the Company will grow its workforce to 2,500 employees at the new headquarters. It is currently anticipated that the new facility will be completed by the end of 2010, subject to a timely approval process. The site plan to be filed tomorrow needs to be approved by the Huntington Town Planning Board, Suffolk County and the New York State Department of Transportation before construction can begin.
