A good turnout for the DLR Space Industry Convention in Bremen .

The first Space Industry Convention, which took place in Bremen on 12–13 June, attracted well over 100 participants. Representatives of 50 German space companies, invited by the German Aerospace Agency (DLR), met with the aim of stepping up space industry cooperation. Astrium, as a major industrial leader, hosted the first day of the event.

Dr Frank Pohlemann, Head of Business Development at Astrium Space Transportation, welcomed the community and, in his introduction, presented an overview of the situation. Following technical presentations on current and future projects and developments, there were extensive bi-lateral discussions between specialists and decision-makers. Smaller space companies also had the opportunity of presenting their businesses as part of a technical exhibition.

Robotics and rovers, zero gravity experiments, power supplies and power electronics, onboard and ground simulation software, satellite propulsion and camera systems and sensors were the major topics of this first space industry convention.
