WEBWIRE

Leesburg, Fla., June 11, 2008 – Lake Harris Health Center, 701 Lake Port Boulevard, has earned the highest 5-star ranking from the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA).

The distinction places Lake Harris Health Center in the top 20% of all health care centers in the region. The North Florida region includes Alachua, Bradford, Citrus, Columbia, Dixie, Gilchrist, Hamilton, Hernando, Lafayette, Lake, Levy, Marion, Putnam, Sumter, Suwannee, and Union counties.

“We are so happy to celebrate this achievement with our entire staff,” said Henry Gerrity, Administrator for Lake Harris Health Center. “This kind of thing doesn’t just happen. It takes a high level of caring and commitment from each and every team member to provide such excellent overall care.”

Lake Harris Health Center achieved its five-star ranking in May, 2008, as a result of inspections over a 30-month period. ACHA inspects all Florida nursing homes to assess how well the nursing home complies with the federal laws governing nursing homes that accept Medicare or Medicaid payments.

According to AHCA, complete inspections are conducted on average once per year. They are unannounced, and typically last three to four days.
