IP Infusion to Release Breakthrough Time to Market Solution for Next Generation Networks Carrier Ethernet Equipment Manufacturers
New version 7.6 of ZebOS® Advanced Platform to be demonstrated at NXTcomm08
Provides key scalability enhancements to meet increasing requirements of carrier-grade Next Generation Network (NGN) equipment
Broadcom® joins ACCESS™ Connect Ecosystem global partner program
Sunnyvale, California, June 2008 — IP Infusion, an ACCESS Company and provider of intelligent software for Next Generation Network equipment manufacturers and converged IP services providers, today announced the release of ZebOS Advanced Platform version 7.6 software with the most complete Carrier Ethernet solution available to date for manufacturers targeting the exploding need for NGN equipment.
The latest 7.6 release of the ZebOS Advanced Platform, which will be available in July 2008, offers:
Increased support for Carrier Ethernet through Provider Backbone Bridging (PBB) that is able to scale to more than 16 million Ethernet service instances
Support for key technologies required to transport IPv6 traffic over existing IPv4 networks
Greater scalability of Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) in provider networks for speedier BGP convergence
Greater scalability of Open Shortest Path First (OSPF), supporting up to 1,000 nodes, 100,000 routes and 500 nodes in one area
64-bit CPU support, an increase from the 32-bit support offered by ZebOS 7.5, providing computing power to match increased network speeds
“With this latest version of our ZebOS Advanced Platform, IP Infusion continues to lead the industry in supporting emerging Carrier Ethernet standards, giving Next Generation Network equipment manufacturers greater flexibility and time-to-market competitiveness,” said Koichi Narasaki, president and CEO, IP Infusion. “This is one more example of how the ZebOS platform provides the critical market-ready solution needed to enable vendors who may not be expert in packet-based technologies to rapidly deploy products for high-growth NGN markets.”
In addition, in view of the increasing demand for IPv6 services as exemplified by the U.S. government’s mandated transition to next generation IPv6 technology for U.S. government networks and devices by June 30, 2008, this latest version 7.6 of the ZebOS Advanced Platform supports a number of key technologies which enable IPv6 network traffic to be carried over existing IPv4 networks. These features will help service providers manage their transition to IPv6 NGNs. ZebOS version 7.6 follows a recent announcement by ACCESS CO., LTD., the parent company of IP Infusion, introducing NetFront™ IP Connect middleware, which enables the timely development of commercial products for NGN home gateways. NetFront IP Connect, developed with the expertise of IP Infusion, provides the framework for extending and supporting additional technologies, such as DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) and SIP (Session Initiation Protocol). By incorporating NetFront IP Connect middleware, an NGN home gateway can easily become a central hub for digital content sharing within the home.
“The intersection of ACCESS’ mobile and IP Infusion’s network transport technologies accelerates the convergence of mobile devices and networks, allowing consumers and enterprises to access and manage their digital content from a variety of Internet-enabled devices, and carriers to deploy new revenue-generating services while managing their costs,” said Toru Arakawa, president, CEO and co-founder of ACCESS CO., LTD.
As an active member of the Metro Ethernet Forum, IP Infusion provides software solutions which accelerate time to market for NGN equipment manufacturers in the Carrier Ethernet and Mobile Backhaul markets. In addition, the ZebOS Advanced Platform provides customers in the Service Provider, Enterprise Router/Switch and Home Gateway markets with robust, standards-based solutions, and when combined with IP Infusion’s experienced professional services, delivers a complete, fully-customized solution to market.
IP Infusion will be demonstrating Carrier Ethernet solutions based on the ZebOS Advanced Platform version 7.6, along with NetFront IP Connect and other advanced networking solutions, at NXTcomm08, Booth #SL3006 to be held June 16 to June 19 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
Broadcom Joins ACCESS Connect Ecosystem
Broadcom Corporation, a global leader in semiconductors for wired and wireless communications, joined the ACCESS Connect Ecosystem (ACE) partner program. The ACE partner program is designed to create a network of world-class partners that will develop the potential of the digital life generation by driving development and adoption of new converged technologies and solutions. In its first year, the ACE partner program has rapidly grown to include 85 members. Broadcom® Ethernet switching technology and solutions are supported by IP Infusion’s ZebOS Advanced Platform version 7.6.
“We’re pleased to see IP Infusion leveraging the advanced service provider protocols that Broadcom offers in StrataXGS® Ethernet switching products,” said Eric Hayes, Senior Director, Enterprise Marketing for Broadcom’s Network Switching business unit. “Broadcom’s Ethernet switches paired with IP Infusion’s application level software will enable our mutual OEM customers to rapidly and cost-effectively deliver next-generation applications, such as IPTV, on carrier Ethernet networks"
