Gunskirchen, Austria. – BRP-Rotax offered a unique, close up driving adventure to over 5.000 BRP- Rotax employees and visitors under the motto START ME UP. The engine specialist from Gunskirchen hosted an extraordinary day for visitors to the Wels Exhibition Centre on Sunday, June 1, 2008.

“We are proud of this unique event, at which people could closely experience our passion for innovation” stated DI Gerd Ohrnberger, vice-president and general manager of BRP-Rotax, “and we are happy that so many employees together with their families and friends shared this excitement with us.”

BRP-Rotax develops and manufactures engines for the most exciting recreational vehicles in the world and attendees were expecting a HP-loaded programme. And they got exactly what they came for. The event offered a taste of everything this model company from Gunskirchen is known for. At a spectacular display, roadsters, snowmobiles, ATVs, sport boats, karts, motorcycles, and even an ultra light airplane were presented – all powered by the famed Rotax engines.

Eager visitors took advantage of this rare opportunity to conduct single test drives on water, off-road and on the road, putting high-performance Rotax engines through their paces and providing riders with the ultimate excitement.

And for those who preferred to watch the action from a safer distance, there was an exciting entertainment programme. The remarkable show by Rainer Schwarz, official stunt driver for Harley-Davidson, amazed the audience as he sped and spun the wheels over the asphalt. Speed races also delivered on the promise of pure adrenaline and viewers were astounded to see that a Ski-Doo® snowmobile can be faster than a car, motorcycle, or kart.

Ö3 host Tom Walek moderated this exceptional day and kept many on their toes with his ingenious questions. At the Culinary Mile, everyone could satisfy their hunger and thirst. The youngest visitors were entertained with an extensive children’s programme.

The excitement continued in the evening as Austrian pop legend Rainhard Fendrich worked up the audience at the BRP-Rotax Auditorium, providing an all-around successful close to a spectacular day
