Adoption of Sysmex products as standard instruments by the Mongolian Ministry of Health

On June, Sysmex Corporation (HQ: Kobe, Japan; President: Hisashi Ietsugu) delivered three hematology analyzers to Mongolia upon adoption of these products as standard instruments for use in blood tests by the Mongolian Ministry of Health. The analyzers are to be applied in a program of external quality control* being promoted by the Ministry among medical institutions nationwide.



In Mongolia, the medical service infrastructure is being conditioned along with the progress of economic development. The diagnostics field, however, has lacked a setup for stable sales and service provision due to the absence of formal distributors representing manufacturers of instruments and reagents. As a result, there have also been issues in the aspect of quality control in the test laboratories of medical institutions.
In September 2007, Sysmex established a distributor in Mongolia and made arrangements for sales and service provision ahead of other companies. We also launched an academic publicity campaign and took other approaches aimed at improving the quality of testing.

In this latest development, the Ministry decided to adopt three of our hematology analyzers for use as standard instruments in blood tests, in recognition of the reliability of our products and of our preparations for quality control and related know-how accumulated in Japan and other developed countries.
Following this adoption, certified medical institutions are going to establish values to serve as standards in blood tests for quality control reagents by using standard instruments, and provide them to test facilities throughout Mongolia. We shall analyze the data collected from these facilities and report the results to the Ministry. The construction of a new setup for quality control centered on the Ministry will make it possible to improve test precision and provide better medical services.

Sysmex products have currently been adopted as standard instruments for blood tests in China and Thailand as well. We will continue our efforts to help improve the quality of medical services in emerging countries through our academic publicity campaigns and other activities, and will heighten our presence in those countries in the process.



* This type of program is implemented to maintain or improve the quality of clinical testing. The program team distributes the same quality control reagent to each medical institution, collects and totalizes the results of reagent measurement from each, and assesses the results based on the standard (target) values established with the standard instruments. The assessment results are fed back to the medical institutions and will be utilized for the adjustment of each analyzer.
