$420,000 project will improve natural gas distribution system

Madison, Wisconsin – June 2, 2008 – Continuing its commitment to ensure safe and reliable natural gas service, crews contracted by Wisconsin Power and Light Company (WPL), an Alliant Energy company, will begin to upgrade natural gas lines in Beloit next week.

WPL will replace and upgrade 7,500 feet of aging underground natural gas mains on Henry Ave. and Morse St. east to Prairie Ave. The project includes all cross streets and is expected to last approximately two months.

Drivers are asked to use slower speeds in the work area as there will be lane closures and some temporary driveway blockages during the project. Construction will be temporarily halted the week of July 10th in conjunction with Beloit Riverfest to help ease potential traffic congestion.

“This upgrade project is part of our commitment to provide reliable gas service for our Beloit area customers,” says Bridget Aldridge, customer operations supervisor for WPL. “We appreciate the cooperation of everyone who works, lives and visits this area during this important project.”
