RSEA Provisions High-Performance Multilingual SSL VPN with Market-Leading Secure Access Platform

SUNNYVALE, Calif.- Juniper Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: JNPR), the leader in high-performance networking, today announced that the Retired Servicemen Engineering Agency (RSEA) has deployed a high-performance SSL VPN remote access solution enabling field engineers to promptly and reliably file status reports. Provisioned via the Juniper Networks Secure Access (SA) 4000 appliance, the SSL VPN is accessible through a multilingual user interface and replaces a legacy hosted secure connection service. RSEA also deployed a Juniper Networks NetScreen firewall to protect its network from Denial of Service (DoS) attacks.

“The award-winning SA 4000 gives us the best combination of security, ease-of-use, and low administrative overhead,” said Hsu Chih-Sheng, System Engineer in RSEA’s Planning Department. “We needed a high-performance VPN solution that could ensure our field staff has fast, reliable and secure access anytime and anywhere to connect to key business systems at our Taipei data center. Because we have a diverse pool of staff from different backgrounds, it was imperative the VPN solution also comprehensively supports multiple languages, beyond just an English or Chinese interface.”

RSEA had previously relied on a hosted remote access solution, delivered by an application service provider. When the service provider stopped offering the service, RSEA considered alternatives. “We were impressed by the ability of the Juniper solution to allow our IT personnel to remotely set up and manage accounts, enabling us to quickly deliver enterprise resources to field users,” added Hsu.

The Juniper Networks SA 4000 appliance delivers cost-effective secure remote access in the field for RSEA’s staff from any standard Web browser. Based on the award-winning IVE platform, the SA 4000 features rich access-privilege management functionality that can be used to create secure extranets with no infrastructure changes, no DMZ deployments and no software agents. Built-in compression for multiple traffic types speeds performance, and SSL acceleration is available via a software license for more demanding environments.

“Fast, reliable and secure remote access is now essential to high-performance businesses, as Taiwanese enterprises become increasingly distributed,” said Eric Lin, general manager, Juniper Networks Taiwan. “We are very pleased that customers, such as RSEA, recognize not only the superior performance and reliability of our security solutions, but also the versatility of our user interface and other ease-of-use factors — including support for Single Sign-On and a centralized management system — that enable them to take full advantage of service-enabling applications.”
