HOUSTON, Texas – Landmark Graphics Corporation, a brand of the Halliburton (NYSE: HAL) Digital and Consulting Solutions Division, has opened an Application Hosting Center in Kuala Lumpur to provide infrastructure, applications and services to support the existing and virtual Exploration and Production (E&P) team environment for oil and gas companies in Malaysia. Strategically located at Landmark’s new office in the PETRONAS Twin Towers, the Center utilizes fiber-optic backbone and very large gigabit networking to maximize and provide easy access, particularly to the oil and gas companies located within the vicinity.

Services offered by the Application Hosting Center will help E&P companies to dramatically reduce operating and capital expenses while ensuring that asset teams have on-demand access to business critical data via the most up-to-date and sophisticated technical applications.

“The hosting center removes the burden of managing and maintaining the technical computing infrastructure away from the E&P companies and places it with Landmark,” said Peter Bernard, senior vice president, Halliburton Digital and Consulting Solutions Division. “Outsourcing data and applications to Landmark will free the oil and gas companies to focus on their primary goal, which is the exploration and production of oil and gas.”

Key technologies underpinning the Landmark Kuala Lumpur Application Hosting Center include HP AMD Opteron Blade servers, which utilize a modular approach ideally suited to a Linux application hosting environment; Landmark’s Team Workspace portal; and an EMC NS702 data storage system.

“HP is excited to be working with Landmark Graphics on this solution,” said Mike Matthews, director, Oil & Gas, Hewlett-Packard, Asia Pacific & Japan. “It is one example of how HP is developing ‘beyond the box’ and building relationships to bring more comprehensive solutions to address the business challenges faced by the petroleum industry.”

Peter Ferris, Vertical Oil and Gas Partner manager for EMC Corporation, said: “EMC is also pleased to be working with Landmark Graphics. Supporting increasingly demanding infrastructure requirements within E&P is becoming more and more challenging and costly for companies. EMC’s proven enterprise NAS solutions are ideally suited to address the availability, performance and scalability requirements to meet these growing challenges and the service-level requirements demanded by leading providers like Landmark.”
