“As we continue our transformation to provide the best possible customer experience, expanding the scope of complimentary upgrades will reward our most loyal customers by making travel more comfortable and inviting,” said Jeff Robertson, managing director of the SkyMiles program. “Additionally, this new benefit fits well with our international expansion and adds value to one of the industry’s most generous elite member upgrade programs.”

Robertson said that Delta is continuing its significant growth to popular locations where customers want to fly. The airline has added 30 percent more seats during the past year, making it the fastest-growing airline to Latin America and the Caribbean. Additionally with this new service, Atlanta will become the second largest southeastern gateway to the region.

SkyMiles Medallion members currently enjoy complimentary upgrades, subject to availability, on most Delta flights within or between the United States, Canada, Mexico, Bermuda and the Caribbean.

Also effective for travel booked Dec. 8, 2005, for travel on or after Jan. 1, 2006, Medallion members purchasing tickets booked in B and M Coach class fares will receive upgrades five, three or one calendar day(s) in advance, based on Medallion level and availability. Currently, Medallion members buying B and M Coach class fares receive upgrades when they book their flight, if seats are available. Y Coach class fares will continue to clear at time of booking after Jan. 1, 2006.
