CAMBRIDGE, MA .- Akamai Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: AKAM), the leader in powering rich media, dynamic transactions and enterprise applications online, today announced that Akamai is the exclusive media management and distribution provider for the Favourite Website Awards Theater (http://www.fwatheater.com), a new video showcase, highlighting the most creative commercials, trailers, animated shorts, motion and VFX shorts, movie and game trailers and more. FWA Theater is leveraging not only Akamai’s global distribution platform for the delivery of the video, but also Akamai Stream OS to power its media management and distribution workflow.

“Teaming up with Akamai on this project was one of my top priorities when planning FWA Theater,” said Rob Ford, FWA Founder and Principal. “Having fast seamless video playback through a well-established network is paramount to the success of anyone serious about video delivery online. Akamai was my first and only choice.”

“As the online video industry grows and matures, recognizing the creative talent around the medium is extremely important. The FWA is a true leader in recognizing the top creative talent on the Web, and Akamai is extremely excited to be a part of the next phase of their organization -- recognizing talent in online video,” said Suzanne Johnson, Senior Industry Marketing Manager for Digital Media at Akamai. “As production quality improves, Akamai looks forward to continuing to provide superior video delivery services, as well as developer tools to facilitate best practices for our customers and interactive agencies to more easily deploy video on their sites.”

The FWA Theater is built on the FiV Video Platform (http://www.f-i.com/services/media_platforms), a proprietary application built and distributed by leading interactive firm Fi. Fi’s content management system supports real-time integration of Akamai’s services to dynamically upload media content to Akamai Stream OS. Fi’s video player application publishes video directly from Akamai Stream OS for easy management and high quality media delivery.

“By combining the speed of Akamai’s delivery with the striking content of the FWA community, FWA Theater will prove to be an exciting user destination,” said Jason Borbet, Fi’s Business Director. “Video is a powerful medium, and by showcasing the industry’s top talent this site should inspire continued creativity.”

FWA Theater is leveraging the Stream OS integrated media management suite to seamlessly manage and catalogue hundreds of videos and automatically publish assets to Fi’s custom video player interface.
