Washington D.C., December 07, 2005 -- XM Satellite Radio (NASDAQ: XMSR), the nation’s leading satellite radio service with more than 5 million subscribers, announced today that it will broadcast the FIFA® World Cup Germany 2006 Soccer team draw live from Germany on Friday, December 9. XM’s coverage of the World Cup draw will air in English on XM LIVE (XM Channel 200) at 2:30 p.m. ET, with repeat broadcasts through out the day. XM also will broadcast Spanish-language coverage of the World Cup draw, hosted by legendary soccer commentator and XM on-air personality, on XM’s 24-hour Spanish-language sports channel XM Deportivo (XM Channel 147) at 2:30 p.m. ET.

U.S. soccer veteran Alexi Lalas will join the XM team during the World Cup selection to provide commentary throughout the broadcast. A former soccer defender, Lalas became one of the most famous soccer players in the United States after his play in the 1994 World Cup. A global soccer veteran, Lalas has played soccer professionally around the world and in U.S. with various Major League Soccer (MLS) teams. He is currently the President and GM of the MetroStars of MLS.

As the official satellite radio network for the FIFA World Cup Germany 2006 Soccer tournament, XM has rights to broadcast play-by-play of all 64 tournament matches in both English and Spanish. The Spanish play-by-play coverage will be featured on XM Deportivo. The English-language coverage of World Cup matches will air on a separate channel.
