December 06, 2005, WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Wachovia Wealth Management has named Curt Farmer, a 20-year veteran of the financial services industry, as Wealth Management Director for the Carolinas. Prior to his new position, Farmer, a senior vice president, was managing executive of Sales and Marketing for Wachovia Trust. His office will be located at 100 North Main St. in Winston-Salem, N.C.

As Wealth Management Director, Farmer will be responsible for the delivery of investment management, financial and tax planning, trust and estate services, insurance, charitable, and private banking services in North Carolina and South Carolina. He will lead the Carolinas region, which includes a staff of more than 350 people.

“Curt Farmer is no stranger to the wealth management business, having spent the bulk of the past two decades serving high-net-worth clients,” said Linda Bowden, managing executive for Wachovia Wealth Management. “Curt’s expertise will help shape our focus throughout the Carolinas, our largest Wealth Management region. He is a proven leader who knows what our clients want and expect, along with the experience it takes to win their respect and trust.”

A native of Winston-Salem, Farmer joined Wachovia in 1985 as a manager of Securities Trading for Wachovia Brokerage Services. In 1987, he became an investment specialist in the Capital Management Group. He served as a Commercial Relationship Manager for the General Banking Group from 1989–92, when he became manager of Wealth Management for Winston-Salem. Following the merger of First Union and Wachovia in 2001, Farmer was named Wealth Management Director for the Pennsylvania/Delaware region. In January 2004, he returned to the Carolinas as managing executive of Sales and Marketing for Wachovia Trust, where he managed the overall sales and marketing efforts for the Trust division. He also established a nationwide sales force for Wachovia Trust.

“I am very excited to be working once again with clients in the Carolinas, a region I know well and care passionately about. It is our largest wealth region and a challenge I look forward to taking on,” Farmer said. “Wealth Management is a key focus for our company, and the Carolinas is a critical market for us. I look forward to the opportunity to help us grow and serve our clients well in the years ahead.”
