LinkCrypt Powers Always Available, Secure Networks Ranging from 10’s of Mbps to 100’s of Gbps

Santa Clara, California (April 2008) — Furthering the Company’s vision for a secure, managed, enterprise network, Marvell (NASDAQ: MRVL) today introduced Marvell® LinkCrypt™ security technology for enterprise core, enterprise access and carrier Ethernet networks. LinkCrypt is a foundation technology which is designed to harden the existing infrastructure and embed security into the network fabric without compromising operational scalability.

“With the heightened concerns for compliance driven by security regulations, coupled with the rampant growth of security infractions occurring from within the network, the need for continuous enforcement of network access control is becoming increasingly critical,” said Awais Nemat, vice president of marketing, enterprise business unit, communications and consumer business group at Marvell. “Based on LinkCrypt-powered silicon solutions, customers can now maintain network performance and scalability while working with authentication and monitoring capabilities already in place within the existing IT infrastructure.”

Designed as a horizontal technology to scale from 10’s of Mbps to 100’s of Gbps performance, LinkCrypt can be embedded across a broad portfolio of products while providing one of the lowest power consumption rates per gigabit of encrypted/decrypted traffic — measured in watts/Gbps — in the industry today. Compliant with the IEEE 802.1AE/af (Link Layer Security) standard, LinkCrypt has demonstrated interoperability with a variety of industry leading solutions and coexistence with other third party software and hardware security solutions.

Just as 802.11i extends the 802.1X authentication model to continuously protect data for the Wireless LAN, LinkCrypt technology extends the IEEE 802.1X model to protect data for the wired Ethernet on a link by link basis. Based on the ratified IEEE 802.1AE standard, LinkCrypt technology supports and enforces authentication of each device on the network while providing integrity and robustness to protocols which are not currently protected by any security standard. Traffic sent over a LinkCrypt secured network, is encrypted and authenticated by preventing a network node from hijacking the address of another node or lying about its own. LinkCrypt also helps reduce the risk of virus and worm propagation as well as other attacks, such as Denial of Service (DoS) that spoof the sender’s identity. Moreover, LinkCrypt technology is compatible with the existing Ethernet infrastructure and can be enabled in an incremental fashion depending on the link vulnerability.
Marvell Switching Solutions

With the addition of LinkCrypt, Marvell continues to build on its portfolio of Ethernet solutions in the data communications network.

The Marvell family of switching solutions is designed specifically to meet the demands of high-performance networks, and provide the reliability and resiliency necessary for business continuity. In addition, Marvell’s solutions provide advanced security to protect data, network users and the network infrastructure, as well as robust quality of service (QoS) for IP applications including voice, video, and mission critical data services.
