BALTIMORE; April 2008 – Baltimore Gas and Electric (BGE), a subsidiary of Constellation Energy (NYSE: CEG), has selected Accenture (NYSE: ACN) to help implement BGE’s Smart Energy Savers ProgramSM, which includes a series of initiatives designed to improve customer service, enable customers to better manage their energy costs, provide environmental benefits through energy-conservation incentives, and help avoid electric supply capacity constraints.

These initiatives will provide customers with information regarding their energy consumption and pricing and allow them to sign up for programs that help save energy during times of high energy use. The information will be provided through “smart” two-way technology, including advanced energy meters and in-home thermostats.

Under the multi-year agreement, Accenture will provide project management support that will include project plan development and execution, functional test planning and execution, quality assurance and coordination of change management and field deployment activities.

Accenture will also provide systems integration services that will include designing, building, testing and deploying the technology necessary to integrate a number of new and existing software systems to support the program.

“We selected Accenture, based on their industry and technical experience, as well as their long history of successful work with us on other important initiatives,” said Carol Dodson, vice-president of Business Transformation and executive sponsor of the Smart Energy Savers ProgramSM. “This is a strategic initiative for BGE that will enable us to help our customers better manage their energy usage and that is in line with our commitment to being good stewards of the environment.”

“Accenture understands the importance of BGE’s Smart Energy Savers ProgramSM not only as an infrastructure and automation project, but as one that has the potential to significantly contribute to the energy conservation efforts in the state of Maryland,” said Casey Wells, managing director of Accenture’s North American smart metering practice.” Accenture will draw on its experience in delivering smart metering implementations around the world to help BGE meet these objectives.”
