It Started With Paint for the Kids House Fence

WEBWIRE

Longwood, FL (Webwire) December 2, 2005 – “It started with a request for the paint for a fence,” says William J. Chatlos, speaking of how the Chatlos Foundation began supporting Kids House of Seminole, Inc. “My sister Joy Chatlos D’Arata, who was on our board at the time, awarded a foundation discretionary grant to help Kids House buy some paint. That’s how we first came to learn about this extraordinary organization.”

Kids House aids abused children by providing all necessary services for child abuse cases from report and investigation, through treatment and prosecution. It provides a friendly, non-threatening environment for children. Since helping them paint a fence, the Chatlos Foundation – like many other organizations – has supported Kids House in several ways.

A non-profit 501(c)3 organization, Kids House of Seminole, Inc. operates through donations and grants from foundations, concerned citizens, local governments, businesses and corporations, private organizations and other non-profit agencies. Without funding support from the community, Kids House would not exist.

Kids House takes a team approach in dealing with child abuse. This allows for all involved agencies and victims to come together at one single facility, working together on a complete investigation including case history, sharing information and ideas, carrying through to assist with prosecution and then determining the best course to provide mental health treatment and medical follow-up for the child and family.

The list of local organizations that have helped Kids House is long. But the need to help never ends. The next time you see a fence that needs a little paint, think about what it means to be able to help someone. Maybe you’re a large organization who can help in a large way. Or maybe your support would be in the form of volunteering or helping fill their wish list. Either way, remember the kids, and consider helping Kids House
