GHG management services provider working with leading MBA-sustainable management program and non-profit focused on reducing carbon

SAN FRANCISCO - April 4, 2008 - In recognizing the importance of educational institutions in advancing sustainability and increasing the network of experts on climate change, ClimateCHECK, a firm that provides greenhouse gas (GHG) management services and solutions, announces its strategic alliance with the pioneering MBA school in sustainable management, Presidio School of Management (Presidio) and LiveNeutral, one of the first non-profits to offer carbon dioxide (CO2) offsets.

Lucrative job opportunities in climate change and carbon markets are booming, however most of these positions are left unfilled, due to the lack of qualified candidates. In fact, Acre Resources, an environmental recruiting agency, found that specialist jobs in climate change, including analysts, managers and carbon traders, tripled between April 2006 and April 2007. With a current average pay of $90k and a prediction that job growth in this area will increase 50 fold by 2012, there will be abundant opportunities for professionals who have the appropriate skills, knowledge and experience.

The partnership between ClimateCHECK and Presidio will enable the organizations to better train the next generation of environmental and business leaders on issues surrounding climate change and the management of greenhouse gas emissions. As part of the agreement, ClimateCHECK will provide valuable learning opportunities to students through internships and Presidio’s project oriented learning (POL) program, which will offer students the chance to work with the company on climate change-related projects as part of their coursework (e.g. marketing, strategy, operations). The firms’ alliance also includes the collaboration on marketing activities and the sharing of resources to help both ClimateCHECK and Presidio better leverage their respective core competencies.

“Working with Presidio is a natural fit for ClimateCHECK,” said Jason Smith, ClimateCHECK’s VP of key accounts and co-founder (and former executive director) of LiveNeutral. “As the leading sustainable MBA program in the U.S., our ties with the school will enable us to strengthen our presence in the country, while tapping a knowledge base of committed professionals.”

ClimateCHECK recently opened its U.S. office to better serve companies in all of North America with deep and strong expertise and experience in GHG emissions consulting. The company’s services and strategies in developing standards, protocols, programs and training, help companies move beyond compliance and risk management so that they can take greater advantage of the opportunities presented by climate change and the emerging carbon markets.

“We are excited about working with a well-respected organization like ClimateCHECK, “said Seyed Amiry, CEO, Presidio School of Management. “Industries devoted to climate change and carbon markets are growing rapidly. Combining ClimateCHECK’s expertise and our commitment to educating business leaders for a sustainable future will help us leverage the opportunities in these areas.”

The partnership with Presidio, which integrates environmental, social and financial sustainability in all its courses, is in line with ClimateCHECK’s goal of helping companies realize both the economic and environmental benefits of reducing GHG emissions. As more companies are looking to mitigate risks in climate change, there will be even more opportunities for Presidio graduates and ClimateCHECK.

LiveNeutral Goes Independent with ClimateCHECK

In addition to its alliance with Presidio School of Management, ClimateCHECK is now the primary sponsor of LiveNeutral, a non-profit organization that started out of Presidio in 2005 by Jason Smith and three other students. Since its inception, LiveNeutral has been engaging and educating individuals, corporations and employees on how to reduce and offset their CO2 emissions. The organization also helped Presidio become one of the first members of the Chicago Climate Exchange (CCX).

With the support of ClimateCHECK, LiveNeutral becomes an independent organization and will continue managing and leveraging Presidio’s CCX membership, which allows the non-profit’s members to offset their emissions.

Smith continued: “With its emphasis on reducing carbon emissions, LiveNeutral is a natural partner for ClimateCHECK. Our sponsorship will enable the organization to thrive and reach more individuals and companies with an ever-expanding array of climate change education and greenhouse gas reduction projects.”

“We are delighted to have the support of such a respected leader in the field of greenhouse gas management, which will help us provide even greater solutions for mitigating climate change,” said Jenna Carl, LiveNeutral’s new executive director. “Presidio was a great launching pad for LiveNeutral, and will continue to be a valuable partner as LiveNeutral grows and accesses new opportunities as an independent nonprofit.”
