Basilea implements holding structure

Basilea Pharmaceutica Ltd. announces that changes to the Articles of Association approved by shareholders at the Annual General Meeting on March 19, 2008 and the implementation of a holding structure were executed on March 28, 2008. Operational business activities will be performed by the new subsidiary Basilea Pharmaceutica International Ltd. that is fully owned by the new holding company Basilea Pharmaceutica Ltd.

Basilea Pharmaceutica Ltd. is an independent biopharmaceutical company headquartered in Basel, Switzerland, and listed on the SWX Swiss Exchange (SWX:BSLN). Basilea’s integrated research and development operations are currently focused on new antibacterial and antifungal agents to fight drug resistance and on the development of dermatology drugs. Basilea’s products are targeted to satisfy high medical and patient needs in the hospital and specialty care setting. The company owns a diversified portfolio including two pre-registration drugs and one phase-III investigational drug.
