Latin America’s first motor racing theme park selects Enterasys to ensure network availability, convergence, mobility and security
Enterasys, the Secure Networks Company™, today announced that it was selected by VELOPARK, the first motor sports theme park in Latin America, to provide a comprehensive network and security infrastructure. The Enterasys deployment is a joint effort with vendor partner TDec, a Latin American integration and consulting firm. Enterasys will provide network connectivity, data security and availability of applications for the park’s employees and visitors. VELOPARK, featuring Brazil’s first fast track, similar to the American NHRA, and one of Latin America’s largest kart racing tracks, is scheduled to open in Nova Santa Rita, Brazil in the first half of 2008. Slated to be the world’s largest Kart track (2500 meters), the park’s management required a network that would support the applications and services to make it a modern attraction.

“In an environment like VELOPARK, which requires 100 percent availability, it is essential that the network infrastructure ensures efficiency, ease-of-management, support and economy,” said André de David, VELOPARK operations manager. “Any failure can cause serious problems for our business. The project is very complex, and encompasses an area of 680,000 square meters -- equivalent to 68 soccer fields. We have visited a number of similar parks in Brazil and abroad, and we haven’t found a single park with a fully integrated voice, video and data IT infrastructure such as the one we will have.”

In order to achieve its goals for convergence as well as mobile applications and intuitive management, the IT staff at VELOPARK opted to invest in multi-service equipment. The VELOPARK team selected Enterasys based on its credibility in the market, high performance and open interoperability for future investment protection.

According to Marcelo Golfetti, TDec’s manager in charge of the VELOPARK account, “The innovative network design will securely and efficiently deliver voice, video and data services with optimal performance. These advanced capabilities will be made available via a single network infrastructure provided by Enterasys.”

VELOPARK’s network solution consists of an Enterasys Matrix® N-Series switch core connected to multiple network devices across a series of buildings around the theme park using Enterasys SecureStack™ C3 edge switches. Fiber optic transport is routed across diverse paths to connect the switches while ensuring high availability and preventing a single point of failure. The project included a network-wide cable upgrade prior to deployment, which was handled by TDec.

Enterasys RoamAbout® wireless switches serve network users and VELOPARK guests. “Using the wireless solution, park employees and visitors can safely and securely leverage wireless roaming,” Golfetti adds.
