New Product Infuses Stereo 3D Data Collection Capabilities into Geospatial Datasets

Huntsville, Ala., Nov. 28, 2005 – Intergraph today announced ImageStation® Stereo for GeoMedia®, the first geospatial imaging product on the market to offer stereo 3D capture capabilities while directly reading a wide range of geographic information systems (GIS) data formats and warehouses. Data collected using Intergraph’s feature collection software is used in geospatial applications and map revisions and stores collected geospatial features in open databases so they can be easily accessed and used by third-party GIS systems.

ImageStation Stereo for GeoMedia provides modules enabling users to display and manipulate stereo imagery with photogrammetrically accurate 3D cursor tracking, stereo vector superimposition, stereo roam, image contrast and brightness adjustments. The product provides extensive geospatial functionalities that bring real-world benefits to photogrammetric production companies, contractors and consultants as well as military and intelligence organizations and agencies, such as:
– Data collection without import/translation steps to formulate proper GIS topology, saving time and resources
– Feature placement modes, automatic updates of attributes, attribute validation and “copy and compare” attributes capabilities, providing for greater productivity
– Geometric anomaly detection and validation, increasing accuracy and improving efficiency
– Automatic image enhancement, increasing image clarity
– Group stereo viewing, making it easier to supervise and train employees

“Infusing 3D data collection and editing capabilities from stereo photos directly into a geospatial dataset enriches the overall quality of information available to the enterprise,” said Gadi BenMark, general manager, Intergraph’s Transportation and Photogrammetry business unit. “ImageStation Stereo for GeoMedia helps users save time and resources by supporting many data formats. Users can collect data without going through import or translations steps to formulate proper GIS topology – increasing data accuracy and improving productivity.”

ImageStation Stereo for GeoMedia is based on GeoMedia Professional 6.0, which supplies the tools for interactively collecting and updating map 2D and 3D feature geometry and attributes from aerial or satellite mono/stereo images.
