MX-series Delivers Superior Flexibility, Reliability and Performance, Enabling Bulgarian Service Provider to Increase Service Differentiation

Juniper Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: JNPR), the leader in high-performance networking, today announced that Spectrum Net AD., one of the largest telecommunications providers in Bulgaria, is deploying Juniper Networks MX960 and MX480 Ethernet Services Routers (ESRs) at the core and edge of its new high-capacity Carrier Ethernet infrastructure. Spectrum Net is building the new infrastructure to accelerate the introduction of IP/MPLS-based services for businesses throughout the country, and to maintain high-speed links with international Points of Presence (PoPs).

The MX-series enable Spectrum Net to deliver a wider range of IP-based, high-quality services, including IPTV and multicast video distribution, allowing it to cost-effectively increase service flexibility in a highly competitive marketplace. System integration has been handled by Juniper’s local partner Smartcom Bulgaria.

“As an alternate provider challenging incumbent and established service providers, Spectrum Net has to deliver higher value with new, flexible and advanced services to win and retain customers,” said Theodore Zahov, chief executive officer of Spectrum Net AD. “In choosing to work with Juniper and deploy its MX platforms, we have selected the vendor and the technology that will enable us to attract and retain customers, fueling our growth and success into the future. Technology innovation is the main driver for Spectrum’s business growth, and working closely with Juniper Networks has enabled us to accelerate our technological lead.”

The Juniper Networks MX960 ESR is the largest capacity Carrier Ethernet platform available in the market today, delivering up to 960 Gbps of switching and routing capacity, and is optimized for emerging Ethernet network architectures and services. The MX960 combines the established reliability and service flexibility of JUNOS software with a best-in-class hardware platform. The MX960 has been purpose-built for the most demanding carrier applications. It offers support for high-performance multicast, unmatched scalability, price-performance improvements and stability in the core network for service providers delivering multiplay services to subscribers.

The MX-series family leverages the proven JUNOS network operating system and also includes the MX240 and MX480 platforms, which provide similar Carrier Ethernet performance in smaller form-factors that enable providers to extend the range and reach of Ethernet services.

“Ethernet is a flexible, cost-effective complement to IP technology and continues to be the technology of choice among enterprises, which in turn has made it increasingly attractive as a next-generation business-class service for carriers,” said Gert-Jan Schenk, senior vice-president of operations, EMEA, Juniper Networks. “Spectrum Net is building a very aggressive, quality-driven business model based on delivering high-performance Ethernet-based services to enterprises, and Juniper’s MX-series will enable them to quickly and cost-effectively scale their network and accelerate their business growth.”
