Jinny Software Offers Packaged Solutions to African Operators

Jinny All-In-One Messaging solution suits cost and scalability requirements of African operators

Wednesday, 30th November 2005, CAPE TOWN –Jinny Software today reiterated the suitability of their Jinny All-In-One Messaging Solution to Mobile Operators across the continent of Africa.

The Jinny All-In-One Messaging solution offers a complete messaging solution tailored to fit the exact requirements of any mobile network operator, especially Operators in many of the immature mobile markets of the African continent. The solution includes a feature rich SMSC, MMSC, WAP gateway and VAS Application Suite enabling a mobile operator to provide their customers with a rich set of messaging services in a cost-effective way. The solution has a modular architecture, with the Jinny messaging systems as the key building blocks and it is completely scalable up to thousands of messages per second.

Mobile operators’ can select any or all of these components, allowing complete freedom and the opportunity to upgrade the configuration at a later date. The solution also scales incrementally, allowing SMS, MMS and WAP to be scaled independently of each other depending on actual traffic levels.

Africa is in the grip of a mobile-phone revolution. In the past 10 years, subscribers in sub-Saharan Africa have risen from 72,000 -- excluding South Africa -- to a forecast 25.5 million in 2005. Mobile phones are becoming increasingly important to African countries as an infrastructure service where their presence is improving efficiency of markets, promoting investment, reducing risk from disasters, and contributing to empowerment. The economic sector is being boosted by this growth as mobile operators can make big profits, pay taxes and create employment. Mobile phones have also had a development impact as they have increased the efficiency of service delivery to the poor, for example weather information or market prices, or opened opportunities for new services such as the tracking of diseases.

Jinny Software has been a mobile infrastructure provider of choice for African operators who have a wide variety of start up and expansion challenges, with the key two being: 1) Scalability to provide a service for an initially relatively small but rapidly expanding population of mobile users and 2) the ability to offer pre-paid technology and the ability to transfer prepaid airtime via SMS. Extending the life of air time bought on prepaid cards, reducing service charges, and lowering the credit limit for keeping an account live also help African operators attract low income customers.

Jinny Software has won deals with key mobile operators across the continent of Africa in the last few years and has gained significant experience through installations in 7 countries including Uganda and Sudan as well as operators in Northern and Southern Africa.

The Jinny All-In-One Messaging solution is a proven cost effective messaging framework offering a single vendor, multi solution approach. This means that significant savings are achieved through a flexible All-In-One Messaging solution software license reflecting the bundled number of messaging nodes.
