Icron Technologies Receives National Research Council (NRC) Grant for Wireless USB Program

BURNABY, BC -- 12/10/2004 -- Icron Technologies Corporation (TSX-V: IT), provider of the ExtremeUSB® extension technology, is pleased to announce that the Government of Canada’s National Research Council (NRC) Industrial Research Assistance Program (IRAP) has increased its initial contribution by $81,000 to assist the technical Research and Development of Icron’s wireless program. The company expects to unveil a completed working prototype in the first quarter of 2005.

This additional contribution represents recognition by NRC IRAP that Icron is developing industry-leading technology in the areas of Hi-Speed USB 2.0 extension and wireless USB. “The NRC IRAP has re-affirmed its commitment to Icron and supported our R&D efforts and business strategy,” commented Suresh Singh, President and CEO of Icron. “We are grateful for the support by the NRC IRAP, and expect that their contribution will help us secure partnerships with key wireless semiconductor chip manufacturers.”

Icron’s wireless USB program has been gathering momentum for several months. When adapted to the Wireless domain, the company’s proven ExtremeUSB technology protocol will allow PC’s to communicate without wires to peripheral devices, including mice, keyboards, DVD Players, CD drives, cameras, MP3- players, scanners and a host of other devices.

Further, the wide adoption of USB within the PC market, combined with the emergence of new device categories has made USB more than a PC desktop solution. John McLeod, Icron’s Vice President, Engineering explained, “We will be offering the ExtremeUSB® protocol in a wide variety of formats.
