Kindred Healthcare Opens Replacement Hospital In Indianapolis, Indiana, And New Hospital In Phoenix, Arizona

Kindred Healthcare, Inc. (the “Company”) (NYSE:KND) today announced the relocation and expansion of Kindred Hospital - Indianapolis South in Greenwood, Indiana, and the opening of Kindred Hospital Arizona - Northwest Phoenix in Peoria, Arizona.

Kindred Hospital - Indianapolis South is a 60-bed freestanding long-term acute care (“LTAC”) hospital in Greenwood, Indiana, immediately south of Indianapolis. The newly constructed 60-bed hospital replaced an existing 46-bed Kindred Hospital - Indianapolis South facility, which had been in its previous location for more than 14 years. The new design for Kindred Hospital - Indianapolis South includes all private hospital rooms. The Company also currently operates a freestanding LTAC hospital in downtown Indianapolis under the name Kindred Hospital - Indianapolis, as well as five nursing and rehabilitation centers as part of its Indianapolis cluster market.

Kindred Hospital Arizona - Northwest Phoenix is a 58-bed freestanding LTAC hospital in Peoria, a suburb in the west valley of Phoenix. This hospital is on the campus of Freedom Plaza Retirement Community, which is operated by Brookdale Senior Living Inc. (NYSE:BKD). Kindred currently operates two freestanding LTAC hospitals in the Phoenix area under the names Kindred Hospital Arizona - Phoenix and Kindred Hospital Arizona - Scottsdale.
