Iberia confirms Rolls-Royce Trent 500 with TotalCare® for additional A340s

WEBWIRE

Rolls-Royce today announced that Iberia has placed an order for Trent 500s for an additional three firm and three option Airbus A340-600s with deliveries commencing in 2009. Including a TotalCare® long-term services agreement, the value of this business is potentially worth $600 million at list prices.

This follow-on order could see Iberia’s Trent-powered A340-600 fleet grow to a total of 19 aircraft, if all the options are exercised.

Fernando Conte, Chairman and CEO of Iberia, said: “The Trent 500-powered A340-600 is the flagship of our long-haul fleet and is, therefore a key part, of our operation. The engine has demonstrated its capability and, combined with a comprehensive TotalCare package, is a perfect fit for our growing fleet.”

Steve Redden, Senior Vice President - Europe at Rolls-Royce, added: "Follow-on orders are a clear and welcome endorsement of both our products and services strategy. We are delighted that Iberia is expanding its Trent 500 fleet.”

In line with the commitment of Rolls-Royce to reduce environmental impact, the low noise and low pollution attributes of the Trent 500 meet all current and planned legislation.
