“Innovation is a Team Sport” Events Feature Industry Executives Discussing JT-Enabled Networks that Synchronize the Product Innovation Process Throughout their Supply Chains

Wednesday, November 16, 2005, PLANO, Texas and DETROIT – UGS Corp., a leading global provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) software and services, today announced “Innovation is a Team Sport” – a series of global seminars featuring manufacturing executives and industry analysts discussing how JT, the widely used open 3D data format, is serving as a common collaboration language for PLM that creates real business value in the global manufacturing industry.

Each event will showcase how organizations of all sizes can accelerate new product introduction and reduce development costs by creating JT™ data format-enabled “global innovation networks” that synchronize the product innovation process throughout the supply chain.

“In today’s global manufacturing environment, supply chains include a wide variety of organizations and can extend across multiple continents,” said Dave Shirk, executive vice president, Global Marketing for UGS. “Studies have shown that as much as 60 percent of new product costs are external, and that 50 percent of product quality problems can be traced back to outsourced materials or services. Innovation is a Team Sport seminars will explain how by synchronizing PLM communications through an intelligent ‘game plan,’ costs go down, quality goes up and innovation thrives. UGS is excited to host these events and promote the benefits companies can gain by fostering global innovation networks.”
