Proven Technology to Support Kahramaa Water Loss Reduction Program,
Optimize Water System Operations and Performance, Maximize Savings

Broomfield, Colorado USA, January, 2008 — MWH Soft, a leading global provider of environmental and water resources applications software, today announced that the State of Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa) has elected to deploy multiple licenses of InfoWater Executive Suite and InfoSurge, the industry’s premier ArcGIS-centric (ESRI, Redlands, California) infrastructure modeling, management and optimization software. The selection is the latest example of the global move toward MWH Soft’s advanced geospatial infrastructure modeling and design solutions.

Kahramaa, a government corporation formed in 2000, purchases electricity and water from private producers and acts as the sole transmitter and distributor in Qatar at the wholesale and retail levels. It operates and maintains some 700 km of water transmission mains ranging from 900 mm to 1,600 mm, and 3,300 km of water distribution mains ranging from 100 mm to 600 mm with 87 pressure zones. The technology-leading corporation has received a number of honors and awards, including the prestigious Special Achievement in GIS Award from the Center for the American Environmental System Research Institute.

“We are thrilled to be working with MWH Soft, a proven global technology leader, to deliver state-of-the-art hydraulic and transient modeling, leakage management and optimization solutions that are helping utilities of all sizes worldwide maximize their return on investment and operate more efficiently and reliably,” said Adel AbouJaoude, Ph.D, Head of Environmental Engineering Division at Khatib & Alami (K&A), a leading engineering and utility solutions provider and MWH Soft’s certified representative in the Middle East. “MWH Soft solutions will be used to build and calibrate a detailed dynamic model of Kahramaa’s water transmission and distribution systems, evaluate current and future system conditions, and develop a comprehensive pressure zone management program that will optimize system operations, performance and integrity. Our partnership with MWH Soft will play a critical role in enabling us to reach these goals.”

Paul F. Boulos, Ph.D, MWH Soft’s President and COO, said: “We are deeply honored to expand our relationship with Kahramaa and to support its vital mission with world-class engineering GIS modeling, design and optimization solutions. The increasing adoption rate of our solutions in the Middle East is a powerful indicator of the value they provide our customers in this water-scarce region. We’re proud to know that more and more clients in this region are looking to us to help them meet their corporate strategic goals, raise quality standards, improve overall performance, and forge closer ties with their customers at maximum cost savings.”
