Brenntag Mexico S.A. de C.V., subsidiary of Brenntag, the global leader in the growth market for the distribution of chemicals, announces the acquisition of the BASF distribution center in Querétaro, Mexico.

With this step Brenntag Mexico is now able to realize the move from the former main distribution center in Tultitlán to the state of the art BASF facility, located in the growing industrial park of Querétaro, 200 km (125 miles) north of Mexico City. The site has 14,000 square meters (150,000 square feet) warehouse space including 1,000 square meters (11,000 square feet) of temperature controlled rooms for fine chemicals and vitamins. The site is located on a property of 77,000 square meters (19.3 acres) and has capacities to receive and park up to 80 railcars simultaneously.

“This investment is the beginning of a new growth cycle for Brenntag in Mexico. Our principal objective has always been, and will continue to be, to serve, in the most efficient manner possible, the needs of our clients and suppliers. To have in Mexico an installation with railway connections is not new, however it is unique to have a terminal of this size for liquid bulk chemicals, equipped with a system for filling drums, that meets all quality, safety and environmental international standards”, said Peter Staartjes, President Brenntag Latin America, Inc.

Querétaro is situated at the center of Mexico and is connected to all major cities such as Mexico City, Monterrey and Guadalajara, as well as the US through principle highways and rail lines. “The site, which clearly enhances Brenntag’s logistics position in Mexico, will enable us to bring in liquid bulk and dry chemicals in a very efficient and safe manner by rail and truck from the US and control the quality of our storing, drumming and dispatch processes in a much better way than before, which will benefit customers and suppliers alike”, adds Steven Terwindt, regional manager Brenntag Mexico.
