Texas Monthly has ranked The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center among the state’s top employers in its 2008 list of “Best Companies to Work For in Texas.”

In its third year recognizing Texas’ finest employers, the magazine identified 75 Texas companies that benefit the state’s economy, workforce and businesses while excelling in workplace excellence. M. D. Anderson is considered a “large” employer.

“It is a great honor to be recognized as one of the top institutions in Texas,” says M. D. Anderson Cancer Center President John Mendelsohn, M.D. “This distinction is especially important because it is based on the feedback from M. D. Anderson employees. I intend to use all of what we learned from the survey to build an even better place to work.”

Organizations from across the state applied for this award and were evaluated in a two-part process. The first section of the assessment process evaluated M. D. Anderson’s workplace policies, practices, demographics and philosophy. The second section focused solely on the workplace experience, measuring the feedback of 400 randomly selected employees from an online 65-question survey.

The survey honored companies in three categories: 20 small companies (25-74 employees), 25 medium-size organizations (75-249 employees) and 30 large-size institutions (250 and more employees).

All ranked companies will be recognized at an awards luncheon and in a special section in the February 2008 issue of the magazine. 01/28/08
