Green Policy requires stakeholders to contribute to sustainability efforts

DENVER – Jan. 21, 2008 – Andavo Travel, one of the largest independent travel management firms in the United States, has introduced the Andavo Green Policy. Through increased awareness and more stringent supplier standards, the Andavo Green Policy will encourage and at times even require Andavo employees, clients, suppliers and partners to contribute to a sustainable environment.

“As Andavo marks its 26th year in business, our goal is to leave a greater legacy that reaches beyond being an extraordinary travel management firm,” said Brenda Rivers, president and CEO, Andavo Travel. “In addition to being travel enablers we want to be stewards of the environment. To make this happen, we have made a strong and lasting commitment to increase our activism in turning back the ecological and societal disruptions of global warming.”

To kick off its Green Policy, Andavo has dedicated 10 percent of its profits to support environmental causes. Among them are renewable energy, reforestation and wildlife conservation.

Andavo formed a relationship with Renewable Choice Energy (http://www.renewablechoice.com/), a leading provider of renewable energy and carbon offsets to companies and individuals around the country. Andavo purchased more than 1,289 metric tons of carbon offsets, enough to offset the carbon dioxide pollution generated by two million miles of flying by its clients and the air and car travel of its employees. Andavo also committed to offset 100 percent of its electricity consumption with renewable energy credits which fund the generation of wind power across America.

“Andavo Travel’s actions send a powerful signal that forward-thinking businesses can set an example for all of us in taking responsibility for our impact on the earth,” said Quayle Hodek, CEO, Renewable Choice Energy.

In addition to investing in renewable energy resources, Andavo Travel has committed to adopting an endangered species for one year through the World Wildlife Fund (www.worldwildlife.org), the largest multinational conservation organization in the world.

“Our hope is that the travel industry as a whole will increase its contributions and commitment to a sustainable environment so that our children and grandchildren inherit a world that each of us has experienced in our travels to places near and far,” said Rivers.
