Jon Werther Named Head of Integrated Operations at AOL
AOL announced today that Jon Werther has been appointed Executive Vice President, Integrated Operations, overseeing the integration of all AOL acquisitions worldwide. The position will report to Ron Grant, President and COO of AOL.
"Jon’s done an excellent job managing Business Development and I’ve now asked him to take on this important new role. Last year, AOL acquired five companies, four of them in the advertising space to support our Platform-A business, and we plan to continue to look for opportunities in the market. Jon will help us realize the full potential of these and future acquisitions throughout AOL" said Grant.
"During the past several years, AOL has acquired world-class companies, and I’m delighted to have the opportunity to work with the many talented people within these organizations and throughout AOL to fully leverage our collective capabilities and technologies" said Werther.
In 2007, AOL acquired five companies, four of which support the company’s investment in advertising and the introduction of Platform-A: TACODA, AdTech, Third Screen Media and Quigo, giving AOL state-of-the-art behavioral and contextual targeting, a world-class ad serving company, and access to the increasingly important mobile platform. Also in 2007, AOL acquired Yedda, a leading semantic social search Questions and Answer service.
Werther previously served as head of AOL’s Business Development group, where he drove strategic transactions and relationships for the company and evaluated new business opportunities. The Business Development group will now operate from the General Counsel’s office under the leadership of Ira Parker, EVP and General Counsel.
Prior to his recent tenure at AOL, Werther was Vice President, Operations at Time Warner, Inc., where he was responsible for strategic business initiatives and played an important role in putting together AOL’s advertising-focused strategy. Before this, Werther had spent seven years at AOL in a variety of executive roles, overseeing a broad range of cross-company operational initiatives, structuring and negotiating various strategic transactions, formulating key AOL strategies, and developing new revenue streams.
Werther has earned an MBA from The Wharton School, a JD from the George Washington University Law School, and a BA from Emory University.
