SunGard Availability Services Provides Increased Availability For Managed Services Customers

WEBWIRE

SunGard Availability Services today announced Restoration Services for Managed IT Services that provide customers running full production of IT systems with even greater recoverability for their critical systems and data.

In the Restoration Services for Managed IT Services program, SunGard works with customers to put a plan and resources in place to restore production services at a secondary SunGard site if needed. With this approach customers achieve increased availability while avoiding the upfront capital associated with developing this capability internally which can help generate a major cost savings.

Many companies have turned to the SunGard Managed IT Services portfolio to maintain business-critical systems and applications, attracted by SunGard’s IT infrastructure, which includes a protocol-independent network, hardened facilities, redundant power systems and end user facilities. SunGard Managed IT Services help organizations free up IT staffs to focus on more strategic projects and reduce the need for investing in additional, costly data center space.

“The Restoration Services for Managed IT Services program demonstrates SunGard’s commitment to helping customers achieve the highest levels of information availability,” said Frank Lacomba, director of product management for SunGard Availability Services. “With our track record of a 100 percent recovery rate in addressing customer outages, SunGard is a proven partner in providing a secure, available and redundant IT environment to support our customers’ systems and applications.”

Central to the offering is the Managed Technology Plan – a role-based contingency plan that outlines technical dependencies, functional responsibilities, and processes that will be followed during the test or live restoration event. In addition, the offering provides customers with access to secondary equipment at an alternate SunGard facility, set hours for testing the plan, and SunGard support to restore systems and applications based on customer requirements.
