WEBWIRE

MWH Soft, a leading global provider of environmental and water resources applications software, today announced that Paul F. Boulos, Ph.D, President and COO of MWH Soft, will address the AWWA/AWWARF 14th Annual Southeastern Regional Technology Transfer Conference in Greenville, South Carolina, on January 24 and 25, 2008. The conference, co-sponsored by the South Carolina Section of the American Water Works Association and the American Water Works Association Research Foundation, is a key regional event for water utility and distribution system managers, government representatives, design and plant engineers, treatment plant superintendents, and leading researchers, scientists and network modeling professionals.

Boulos’s talk, “Distribution Systems Water Quality Modeling,” will examine the massive challenges facing global drinking water infrastructure systems and explore the latest advances on water quality transport and mixing in the distribution system environment. Other invited speakers include Dr. Sun-Nan Hong, Vice President and Chief Engineer for Kruger, Inc.; Dr. Kala Fleming with Innovation & Environmental Stewardship for American Water; Dr. Mark Weisner, the James L. Meriam Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Duke University; and Mr. David Pyne, President of ASR Systems LLC.

Technical researchers and industry leaders from around the country will discuss the technologies and issues that are shaping the future of the potable water industry, not only offering insight and understanding of theoretical concepts and ideas, but discussing their practical application in existing water treatment and distribution facilities. The agenda will cover a wide range of issues related to both water treatment plants and distribution systems. Treatment topics include Enhanced TOC Removal, Characterization of Particles in Filter Effluents, and Water Supply Sustainability. Distribution System topics include Water Quality Modeling and Pathogen Intrusion.

There will also be open discussion periods when all speakers will be available in a panel format to answer questions and discuss water industry issues, along with an extended networking session and reception where attendees can share ideas and learn about the latest developments in water-related science and research.

“This industry-leading event is an excellent forum for researchers, engineering and treatment professionals, water purveyors, and regulators to meet and talk face to face about critical drinking water issues,” said Boulos. “As the focus on protecting and improving the reliability and integrity of our potable water infrastructure systems intensifies, the need to collaborate more effectively, share information, and discuss technological innovations and proven, cost-effective solutions is more pressing than ever. MWH Soft is proud to participate in a conference that showcases a breadth of important multi-disciplinary water research and practical applications, and brings together groups with a common interest in addressing and solving critical water issues.”
