AT&T OPT-E-MAN Solution Makes the Grade for Cook County School District 130

AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T) announced today that Cook County School District 130 has awarded AT&T a five-year contract to provide the AT&T OPT-E-MAN® service across nine Cook County school locations. Providing the necessary bandwidth, reliability and security needed for today’s online education applications, the AT&T OPT-E-MAN solution extends AT&T’s relationship as the primary solutions provider for the school district.

Serving communities in Alsip, Blue Island, Crestwood and Robbins, Cook County District 130 continues to experience increased growth and classroom demands. With new interactive technology, Internet-based learning programs and online grading tools for nearly 4,000 students at 13 schools on nine campuses, the district required advanced network solutions that are both managed and secure.

Enabling enhanced educational applications that increase student achievement, AT&T’s OPT-E-MAN solution will allow the district to handle heavy amounts of online video, voice and data traffic on optimized and prioritized bandwidth. Backed by Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) and Ethernet technology, the AT&T OPT-E-MAN solution puts Cook County District 130 in a position to deploy Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) technology in the future.
