TennisChannel.com Launches Interactive Holiday Greeting "Lord of the Strings"

WEBWIRE

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 13, 2007 – Tennis Channel, the only 24-hour, television-based multimedia destination dedicated to tennis and the surrounding lifestyle, has unveiled an interactive holiday greeting that enables network Web site visitors to deliver humorous, personalized messages during the holiday season. “Lord of the Strings” ( http://lots.tennischannel.com/ ) e-mails add the sender’s face to a lighthearted, animated tennis player who takes to the court and stretches impossibly, warms up confidently and swings fruitlessly before finding himself literally in over his head.

The fun, easy-to-use electronic greeting has a simple setup. Users upload personal photos so the “Lord of the Strings” character (male or female according to the sender’s selection) will perform all actions with the desired portrait as its face. Guests then dress their characters, choosing hat, visor, shirt, shorts or tennis dress before deciding on a racquet and heading to the court.

When recipients open the e-mail, they are treated to a bizarre and comical holiday treat. The “Lord of the Strings” character wears their friend’s face, struts onto the court, stretches and flails away at tennis ball after tennis ball while a rocking version of “Deck the Halls” plays in the background.

“We’re excited to offer Web visitors the chance to send their friends and colleagues fun, creative holiday greetings that demonstrate their personalities,” said Lynn Forbes, vice president, Web and new media, Tennis Channel. “We continue to try to develop www.tennischannel.com content that reflects Tennis Channel’s television and online audiences, who are so passionate about this game.”

“Lord of the Strings” participants also have the opportunity to create a smaller version that can then download to MySpace and personal Web pages, as well as other online destinations.
