Supra deploying Lucent solution to become facilities-based CLEC capturing significant operational savings and speeding service time to market

NOVEMBER 09, 2005, MURRAY HILL, N.J., and MIRAMAR, FL — Lucent Technologies (NYSE:LU) and Dynavar Corporation, an accredited Lucent Sales Business Partner, today announced a contract with Supra Telecom, a Florida based telecommunications provider, for the installation of Lucent’s Accelerate™ Next Generation Communications Solutions to deliver existing and next-generation long distance calling services.

Lucent’s solution will enable Supra Telecom to grow its network and cost-effectively offer new services such as Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) while maintaining its ability to provide traditional telephone service.

Supra will use Lucent’s solution for its ’City Cents,’ which allows residential customers to make long distance calls for a penny a minute, and to provide new services including enhanced calling features, remote office capabilities, and Web portal functions for its residential and small business customers.

In deploying Lucent’s Compact Switch, Supra is shifting from reselling services on a competitor’s network to selling services as a facilities-based Competitive Local Exchange Carrier (CLEC). Dynavar will provide the network engineering, integration and deployment services for the installation.

“Supra’s deployment of the Lucent Compact Switch will allow them to deliver a more cost effective and better managed long distance service to their customers,” said Loye Matika, regional vice president, Dynavar Corporation. “The Lucent Compact Switch clearly is one of the most flexible platforms, and will enable Supra to easily add additional services such as prepaid calling card or Class 5 features as further value to their customer base.”

Owning the equipment will enable Supra to decrease operating costs and help to increase revenues while permitting end-to-end control of services and improving time-to-market for next-generation products.

“The Lucent Compact Switch will help us increase our revenues while greatly reducing our expenses and help position us as one of the most competitive provider of long distance calling services,” said Ken Meister, chief executive officer, Supra Telecom. “Additionally, the purchase of the Lucent switch will give us the ability to enhance our reach into Latin America through Zona Franca, our unlimited international long distance plan, as well as country-centric plans such as Mi Cuba and Un Solo Pueblo.”

“Our partnership with Dynavar gives us the opportunity to offer Supra a revenue-generating solution that will enable the provider to cost-effectively expand its portfolio of products in the Southeast,” said Gerry Cafaro, vice president of sales for Lucent Technologies. “We look forward to continuing our work with Supra Telecom to implement our best-in-class technology to evolve their business and product offerings.”

The Lucent switch also can serve as a building block for carriers that choose to migrate to an IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) network to offer blended lifestyle services.

The Lucent Compact Switch can support from as few as 1,000 subscribers to more than 100,000 subscribers on a single integrated platform. Service providers can deploy the switch for end-office (Class 5) and tandem (Class 4) applications to replace an existing switch or as an addition to the network. In addition to providing VoIP, Internet off-load and gateway mobile switching center features, the compact switch also offers CALEA and E911 capabilities.
