New DR-2510C & DR-2010C Scanners Usher In A New Canon Brand For Digital Document Management

Lake Success, N.Y.– Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in document imaging and office solutions, introduces the latest addition to the award winning DR-Series Scannersi, the Canon imageFORMULA DR-2510C and DR-2010C high-speed color scanners. The introduction of the imageFORMULA brand signifies Canon’s focus on the development of innovative versatile business scanners for the digital management of hardcopy documents.

The new imageFORMULA brand, developed to unify Canon’s digital scan solutions under a single brand, will encompass various Canon business scanner models including the ScanFront network scanners and DR-Series of document scanners, as well as the CR-Series check scanners. This aligns with Canon’s other office solutions business unit brands; imageRUNNER MFPs, imagePRESS digital production presses, imageCLASS desktop MFPs, imagePROGRAF large format printers, imageWARE software solutions, and now imageFORMULA business scanning solutions.

“We are proud to bring Canon’s business scanners together under the umbrella of the new imageFORMULA brand. Both the DR-2510C and DR-2010C are ideally suited to be the brand ambassadors for this new brand,” said Jim Rosetta, vice president and general manager, Imaging Filing Systems Group, Canon U.S.A.

The DR-2510C and DR-2010C models provide color scanning up to 25 pages per minute (ppm) and 20 ppm / 50 images per minute (ipm) and 40ipmii in duplex, respectively. Ideal for workgroup environments and distributed scanning applications in legal, healthcare, government, financial and education markets, the DR-2510C/2010C models provide fast, high-quality duplex scanning in a versatile and space-saving design. Under Canon’s new imageFORMULA brand, the DR-2510C and DR-2010C scanners also provide reliable document feeding, advanced image processing functions, and customizable Scan-To-Job buttons to enable faster workflows. Designed for the busy office environment, these two new scanners simplify the scanning process with a range of innovative features.

First, a new-and-improved CMOS contact image sensor scans color documents just as quickly as monochrome and grayscale, providing consistent speed and accurate image quality. Both models feature Canon’s Three-Dimensional Color Correction to help produce image scans that are true to the original and free of unwanted color staining.

Maximizing productivity and operator convenience, the DR-2510C and DR-2010C inherit a range of innovative features available on higher segment models such as Automatic Color Detection, Moir‚ Reduction, Automatic Page Size Detection, Skip Blank Page, Deskew and Text Orientation Recognition. Additionally the DR-2510C features Ultrasonic Double Feed Detection. All of these features help enable operators to load batches of mixed documents and still be sure to properly digitally capture each one.

The devices’ small footprint and versatile tray design make them ideal for use on desktops and countertops in busy workspaces. The new slant paper path design guarantees smooth scanning of a wide variety of documents from thick documents and multisheet forms right through to driver licenses and embossed plastic cards. The innovative feeding mechanism ensures reliable page separation for fast, unattended batch scanning.

Both models also come bundled with a suite of innovative Canon and third-party software packages, including CapturePerfect 3.0, Adobe Acrobat 8.0 Standard, ScanSoft PaperPort SE, OmniPage 4SE, and Presto! BizCard 5software.
