Media Advisory: Dec. 3 New Orleans Meeting To Review Ipet Risk & Reliability Analysis

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers established the Interagency Performance Evaluation Taskforce (IPET) to examine New Orleans’ hurricane protection system after Hurricane Katrina. Reports issued by IPET are being reviewed by a committee of the National Academy of Engineering and National Research Council at the request of the U.S. Department of Defense. At its next meeting in New Orleans, the committee will hear presentations by IPET officials on their recently issued “risk and reliability” volume, which analyzes the vulnerability of different parts of New Orleans to flooding caused by hurricanes. The meeting will also include a session for public comment.
