Fujifilm Serves as Premiere New York Sponsor

New York, On November 19th the Children’s Museum of Manhattan (CMOM) will debut an interactive traveling exhibition, The Art of Andy Warhol, featuring the iconic work of world renowned artist, Andy Warhol (American, 1928 - 1987). The Art of Andy Warhol - sponsored by Fuji Photo Film, U.S.A., Inc. - highlights signature works from the 1980s era that took the art and social scene of New York City by storm and influenced the world.

The Art of Andy Warhol recreates, in part, Warhol’s 1983 Zurich exhibition, “Paintings for Children” that was designed specifically for children. The exhibition at CMOM, organized by the Andy Warhol Museum and the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh, will feature 18 original Warhol paintings depicting animals and tin toys, as well as 6 screen prints from Warhol’s Myth Series including Uncle Sam, the Wicked Witch of the West and Howdy Doody.

According to CMOM Executive Director, Andrew S. Ackerman, “CMOM is delighted to partner with Fujifilm to bring active learning and art to children through this amazing exhibition, The Art of Andy Warhol. Andy Warhol is a 20th Century icon. He changed the art world forever and it is such a privilege to honor his work at CMOM. Through this exhibition, children will have the opportunity to learn about pop culture, art-making, digital photography, creative thinking and history.”

This exhibition continues the Museum’s focus on creativity and the visual arts, previously explored in Art Inside Outand Sunday Morning Breakfast: Inside the Art of Romare Bearden. In keeping with the Museum’s mission to help children understand the process of artistic creativity and experimentation, the exhibition will include workshops and hands-on activities.

“Fujifilm is proud to support the Children’s Museum of Manhattan, a family institution valued and respected in New York and beyond, and to sponsor The Art of Andy Warhol,” said Camilla Jenkins, Vice President of Corporate Communications, Fuji Photo Film, U.S.A. “Fujifilm is committed to the creation and preservation of beautiful images. This exhibit gives us the chance to help CMOM introduce children to the delightful art of Mr. Warhol, as well as to the joys of picture taking, sharing and printing in a digital world.”

In keeping with CMOM’s commitment to the arts and technology, the exhibition will give children the opportunity to:

• Make a real silkscreen print using pop Warhol images
• Dress up in costumes based on the Myth Series and take home a photo of themselves in costume using revolutionary new technology from Fujifilm
• Have a family photo taken to include in a unique photo album along with their drawings, poems or special thoughts

The Art of Andy Warhol is organized by the Andy Warhol Museum and the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh.
