REDWOOD SHORES, Calif. 07-NOV-2005 Oracle today announced that Centershift, Inc., the leader in providing Internet technology solutions that increase the profitability and value of real estate assets in the self-storage market, supports thousands of customers through an information technology (IT) architecture encompassing Oracle(r) Database 10g, Oracle Real Application Clusters and a Microsoft .NET middle tier.

Founded in 2001, Salt Lake City-based Centershift delivers integrated and scalable enterprise applications via an application service provider model for companies of all sizes that manage real estate assets in the self-storage industry. Centershift’s Oracle and .NET architecture delivers a highly available, flexible and secure foundation through which to capture and deliver information related to users’ self-storage facilities in real-time. Self-storage property managers and publicly funded Real Estate Investment Trusts (REIT) rely on Centershift’s rich-client application, which is accessible via any Web browser with Internet connection, for:

* accepting customer payments online;
* monitoring storage unit rentals and availability;
* processing moving in / moving out of storage units;
* accessing reports (both historical and real time);
* utilizing yield management capabilities;
* selling merchandise; and
* using low-cost mailing and printing services offered via Centershift.

Centershift operates a centralized, four-node database cluster using Oracle Real Application Clusters on two-way HP ProLiant servers with Xeon processors running on Red Hat Enterprise Linux v. 3. Fully integrated with their Oracle Database, the middle-tier layer is comprised of Microsoft Internet Information Services 5.0 and Visual Studio .NET 2003 applications running on Windows.

Centershift relies heavily on XML Web services for extending their application and integrating with third-party entities supporting Centershift’s customers such as call centers, kiosks, and Web sites. For example, Centershift provides call centers with direct and immediate access to the latest information on self-storage units and properties as well as integrates with customer Web sites that collect online payments for self-storage units. Raw data stored in Centershift’s database is translated into XML and is delivered as an XML Web service through its application and exposed to customers and partners.

“Our customers need timely access to their data for decision-making purposes and reporting often to investors or other third parties,” said James Hafen, Chief Technology Officer, Centershift, Inc. “Moreover, the ability to extend their organization in real-time to call centers, Web sites, and kiosks, to name a few, enhances the services they can in turn offer to their self-storage customers. With a clustered Oracle backend providing reliable, scalable, and high performance database services, and Microsoft at the middle tier, we offer our customers the most sophisticated management software solution in our industry.”
