Tim McNulty Appointed Associate Vice President For Government Affairs at Carnegie Mellon

PITTSBURGH — Tim McNulty will become the new associate vice president for government affairs at Carnegie Mellon University, effective Jan. 1, 2008. He will direct Carnegie Mellon’s Office of Government Affairs, which acts as an advocate for the university on the federal, state and local levels.

mcnultyMcNulty succeeds Maureen McFalls Young, who retires from the university on Dec. 31 after seven years of leading the university’s first government relations program.

McNulty has been associate provost for strategic technology initiatives at the university since 2003. He came to Carnegie Mellon after eight years in the administrations of former Pennsylvania Governors Tom Ridge and Mark Schweiker. While working in state government, McNulty held several senior positions in the Department of Community and Economic Development and the Governor’s Office and was engaged in wide range of technology development initiatives.

His understanding of the university and its contributions, and his extensive experience will enable him to be an effective representative for the university at all levels of government,” said Mary Jo Dively, university vice president and general counsel.

McNulty is a graduate of Indiana University and the University of Illinois at Chicago. He resides in Point Breeze.
