Symantec Releases the Latest Versions of its Leading PC TuneUp Solution Norton SystemWorks

Premier Edition Includes Symantec’s Award-Winning Norton AntiVirus 2008 and Norton Save & Restore 2.0

CUPERTINO, Calif.– Symantec Corp. (Nasdaq: SYMC) today announced new versions of Norton SystemWorks, the leading PC tuneup solution that diagnoses, repairs and maintains consumer and home office/small office computers. Norton SystemWorks Standard, Norton SystemWorks Premier and Norton SystemWorks Basic are now Vista compatible and provide consumers the opportunity to choose the solution that best suits their needs.

All three editions of Norton SystemWorks automatically diagnose and fix hard drive errors with the One-Button Checkup feature. Also included are Norton Utilities’ trusted tools, Norton Cleanup, which removes cookies and temporary files, and System Optimizer, which allows computer users to optimize their Windows settings from a single screen. In addition, Norton SystemWorks Standard and Premier include Norton AntiVirus 2008, which protects against new and emerging malicious code. Norton SystemWorks Premier also features Norton Save & Restore 2.0, offering easy yet reliable system and data backup and recovery, and an emergency boot CD so customers can start their computer when it can’t start itself.

Outbound e-mail protection helps prevent the spread of malware while inbound/outbound e-mail scanning helps thwart the spread of infection. Norton AntiVirus 2008 includes zero-day proactive browser protection that defends against drive-by downloads and other new and unknown threats that exploit vulnerabilities in Internet Explorer. Instant messaging protection automatically removes infections before they cause damage or spread through IM services. Norton AntiVirus 2008 also features significant performance improvements in boot time, scan time, installation and response time, thereby decreasing the impact on system startup and resource usage. To help ensure an uninterrupted user experience, security risks are automatically handled without requiring user intervention.

Norton Save & Restore 2.0

Norton SystemWorks Premier also includes Norton Save & Restore 2.0, which protects what users care about – digital photos, family videos, key financial records, essential computer system files and more – in one easy step. It provides automatic backup and recovery, restoration from system failure, full system backup of selected files, incremental backups, and backup file encryption. In addition, an enhanced backup search simplifies finding and recovering data while a new one-step setup wizard simplifies backups by creating an initial backup schedule and offering a tutorial about backing up a system.
