Ashland introduces new PLIOGRIP by Valvoline seam sealer at NACE conference

DUBLIN , Ohio – A new rubber-toughened two-part epoxy seam sealer, PLIOGRIP ® by Valvoline High-Body Seam Sealer 12, is being showcased in the new product pavilion at the International Autobody Congress and Exposition (NACE), Oct. 31 – Nov. 3, in Las Vegas. The product is one of a series of adhesives from Ashland Specialty Polymers & Adhesives (SP&A), a business group of Ashland Performance Materials, a division of Ashland Inc. (NYSE:ASH).

A key attribute of High-Body Seam Sealer 12 is that it can be painted immediately following application, thereby eliminating the time normally associated with adhesive curing. “After applying our High-Body Seam Sealer 12 automobile repair professionals can move the vehicle straight into the paint booth. This capability has never before been offered in a two-component seam sealer,” said John Baetz, senior product manager for Ashland SP&A.

The entry into the NACE new product competition marks Ashland’s second year in the contest. Last year Ashland’s PLIOGRIP by Valvoline Finishing Cream took top honors as best new product. The High-Body Seam Sealer 12 is one of four seam sealer products designed specifically to give auto body repair professionals much-needed flexibility in repair applications.

The four PLIOGRIP by Valvoline seam sealers are designed to allow technicians to duplicate almost any original equipment manufacturer seam. Non-Sag Seam Sealer 6 and High-Body Seam Sealer 12 are designed for standing seams, tape seams, and angle seams often found on import vehicles. High Body Seam Sealer 12 may also be used in applications where extra gap-filling properties are required. Controlled-Flow Seam Sealer 6 is an ideal product for applications requiring leveling characteristics while also retaining some body, such as duplication of rounded-edge tape seams found on import vehicles. Self-Leveling Seam Sealer 12 is a low-body flowable product for roof ditches and puddle seams. As with other PLIOGRIP by Valvoline adhesives and sealers, the number in the product name denotes the work time of the product.
