Boise Elects Executive Officers

Alexander Toeldte will lead paper, packaging, and newsprint businesses; Virginia Aulin to head up Communications, Performance Management, and Organizational Development

October 28, 2005, BOISE, Idaho – Boise Cascade announced today the election by the company’s board of directors of two executive officers. Alexander Toeldte has been elected to the new position of executive vice president, Paper and Packaging & Newsprint. Most recently, he served as president of Packaging & Newsprint.
“Alexander brings to this new position disciplined operating leadership with strong corporate development skills, as well as broad experience in the building materials and paper businesses,” said Tom Stephens, chairman and chief executive officer.
Prior to his responsibilities with Boise Cascade, Toeldte was executive vice president of Fonterra Group and CEO of Fonterra Enterprises. Fonterra is New Zealand’s largest company with 20,000 employees and operations in 120 countries.
Toeldte has also served as CEO of Fletcher Challenge Building in New Zealand, CEO of Fletcher Challenge Paper in New Zealand, and chairman of the board of Fletcher Challenge Canada Limited. Toeldte also spent 13 years with McKinsey & Company in Stockholm, Montreal, Brussels, and Toronto.

The board of directors has also formally elected Virginia Aulin to the position of vice president of Communications, Performance Management, and Organizational Development. According to Stephens, “Virginia’s priority is to continuously raise the reputational and intellectual capital of the company and help to engage employees in our business so we can achieve outrageous results.”
Virginia joined Boise Cascade in a consulting capacity in March 2005 to assist in the management of the Public Policy and Communications organizations. Before joining Boise, Virginia was vice-president of Public Affairs and Government Relations for TimberWest Forest Corp in Vancouver, Canada.
Virginia also has 14 years of strategic communications and public affairs experience, including a variety of positions with Weyerhaeuser Company, MacMillan Bloedel Ltd., and Burson-Marsteller, an international public affairs firm. Previous to this, she worked as a legislative assistant for a Member of Parliament in Ottawa.
