IDI Executive Management Program Launched

The Israel Diamond Institute (IDI) officially launched the first academic program to promote excellence in management in the diamond industry, at a ceremony held at the Diamond Complex in Ramat Gan this week. The ceremony was attended by the twenty-four members of the industry chosen to participate in the program, as well as by IDI Chairman Moti Ganz, Chairman of the Professional Training Committee Meir Dalumi, IDI Managing Director Eli Avidar, Israel Diamond Manufacturers Association Managing Director Udi Sheintal and Israel Diamond Exchange Managing Director Yair Cohen.



The program is a joint venture with the Shenkar College of Engineering and Design, located in Ramat Gan, and will be taught by lecturers from the college’s school of Department of Industrial Engineering and Management, as well as by experts from the diamond industry.



At the ceremony, Moti Ganz told the new students: “You’ve been chosen. You can become the flagship of The Israeli Diamond Industry.” Ganz also said that registration for the program was closed early due to the huge amount of applicants. He stressed that IDI would monitor the program to ensure that it fulfills the intended goals.



The program will be held during 52 weekly session of 8 hours each. Classes will take place at Shenkar, which is located close by the Israeli Diamond Complex in Ramat Gan. Graduates of the program will receive a special certificate from Shenkar and IDI, and will receive 14 academic credits that may be applied to a degree program.



The program is designed to train diamond managers to successfully meet the challenges within a rapidly changing industry. Ganz said, “We have chosen 24 of the brightest members of The Israeli Diamond Industry to take part in this course. We are confident that they will acquire tools that will help them to improve their management skills, as well as to achieve better business results for their companies.”



The program will cover the following subjects: general management skills, marketing management and strategy, international marketing and sales, advanced information technology, legal issues concerning international trade, copyrights and intellectual property and jewelry manufacturing.
