9th Annual RBC Canadian Painting Competition to visit Barrie

RBC, The Canadian Art Foundation and the MacLaren Arts Centre would like to invite you to preview the RBC Canadian Painting Competition Exhibition at a reception at the MacLaren Art Centre in Barrie on October 17, 2007. The exhibition features artwork from Eastern, Central and Western Canada.

Several recognized artists from Central Canada, whose works form part of the exhibit will be in attendance, including Toronto’s Melanie Authier who received an honourable mention in the national contest and was awarded $15,000, as well as Kim Dorland of Toronto, Jennifer Lefort of Toronto, Anders Oinonen of Toronto and Ben Pinkney of Toronto.

Arabella Campbell of Vancouver was named national winner and was awarded $25,000 and Calgary’s Chris Millar was awarded $15,000 for honourable mention.

With a total of $55,000 in prize money, the RBC Canadian Painting Competition has Canada’s largest arts award disbursement for painting. The artists will be on hand to participate in one-on-one interviews.
