The World’s Greatest Cartoon Heroes Come to Germany

October 26, 2005, Next year Turner Broadcasting System (TBS) will launch a German version of its popular channel Boomerang on Kabel Deutschland’s digital platform. Boomerang is the home to some of the greatest cartoon stars of all time including The Flintstones and Tom & Jerry. With its well known cartoon characters Boomerang is a favourite for kids and adults alike with European local versions in countries including the UK, France, Italy and Spain.

Following the success of the Cartoon Network block on kabel eins which launched in September 2005, Turner is now creating Boomerang for Germany as a channel that is specifically developed for the German market with dubbed cartoons. It will launch on Kabel Deutschland in the second quarter of 2006 and will be broadcast on Kabel Digital HOME. Further Platforms are planned.

Boomerang will showcase a multitude of characters from some of the world’s best classic animation such as Top Cat, Wacky Races, Yogi Bear and the Hair Bear Bunch and a whole variety of internationally famous cartoon stars from Warner Bros. and Hanna Barbera studios.

For those who can’t wait until the German version of Boomerang is launched, Boomerang stars can be received in English language on Kabel Deutschland with the Kabel Digital INTERNATIONAL package starting in January 2006. As another highlight Kabel Digital INTERNATIONAL will broadcast an English version of TCM (Turner Classic Movies). TCM provides an extended archive of film-highlights from the 1920s to the 90s, including ageless classics like Casablanca, Cat on Hot Tin Roof, Gone with the Wind, The Postman Always Rings Twice, The Dirty Dozen and Poltergeist. Furthermore it presents homage-features to great movie stars and background magazines.

Boomerang is cartoon entertainment for the whole family and is home to the favourite cartoon stars of all time. According to a BMRB International Survey in September 2004, the Boomerang shows Tom and Jerry, Scooby-Doo, Dangermouse, Top Cat, The Flintstones, Bugs Bunny, Popeye, Road Runner, Wacky Races and Hong Kong Phooey are the all time top ten favourite cartoon series.
