Alcatel demonstrates triple play/IPTV and 3G Multimedia applications at the Portuguese-Spanish Innovation and Telecommunications Forum

Cascais, October 26, 2005 - Alcatel (Paris: CGEP.PA e NYSE: ALA) will attend the Portuguese-Spanish Innovation and Telecom Forum (FLEIT) and present the latest innovations in Triple Play and IPTV, as well as the latest multimedia applications for mobile communications. This event organized by the Portuguese-Spanish Foundation, Telefónica and Portugal Telecom, gathers leading telecom sector specialists, both from Portugal and Spain. It will take place at the Lisbon Congress Centre, on October 27th and 28th.

Alcatel will demonstrate new services that IP technology can deliver over traditional xDSL broadband networks, as well as its solution for a complete end-to-end triple play network architecture, comprising the software and hardware required to offer scalability, reliability and QoS levels necessary to deliver IPTV services. Based on the Microsoft® TV IPTV Edition software platform, Alcatel will also give showcase its new IPTV applicatons: the Alcatel 5900 AmigoTV and the Alcatel 5900 MyOwn TV, which enable the consumer to personalize the TV experience and to share personal content with their community and circle of friends.

Additionally, Alcatel will present new 3G solutions and applications, such as 3D Live Sailing, MyInteractive TV (Mobile TV), Recorded Live Circuit Switching (Mobile Handset real time recorded Video), Video Blog (Blog with 3G Videos), Video Mail Box (application that enables video message recording and browsing), Video Greetings Kiosk (Mobile mail box personalisation with video). Visitors will also be able to play the most recent and stimulating mobile games, through the playi9 portal connected with Alcatel’s content provisioning platform.

FLEIT is an important Iberias event that provides fundamental discussions amongst the main telecom leaders from Portugal and Spain.
