The Iowa Department of Natural Resources and the regional hazardous materials team have conducted sampling and found no indoor air pollution. They have asked EPA to further investigate.

EPA Region 7, coordinating with Waterloo, DNR, and the Waterloo School District, will collect indoor air samples today for a wide variety of organic pollutants.

Laboratory results are expected to be received and reported to the public seven to 10 days after collection. EPA, with the help of Waterloo, DNR, the Waterloo Schools and the Blackhawk County Health Department, will take all appropriate measures to ensure human health and the environment are protected.

There will be an opportunity for media to interview Manny Schmaedick, on-scene coordinator, about the EPA sampling process. Schmaedick will be available on site from 3:30 to 4 p.m.
