Discover the stories behind an extraordinary motorcycle exhibit

Wetaskiwin... Exciting guest speakers discuss their passion and experiences at the Motorcycle Lecture Series that continues from October 30 to November 27 at the Reynolds-Alberta Museum. Listen to the stories behind Life & Times of the Motorcycle every second Sunday in the museum’s theatre.

On Sunday, October 30 guest speaker and author Ted Bishop visits the museum. Ted is the author of ’Riding with Rilke,’ an inspiring journey through physical and intellectual landscapes. A fateful decision to pass a double semi-trailer on his motorcycle left Ted with a new outlook and a chance to look at reading, writing and motorcycling in a different light. His quest-to unite the scholar and the motorcyclist with the life of the senses-is a reminder of the struggle we all face in reconciling the personal and the professional. Hear Ted’s humorous insights into his adventures, his crash and much more in this riveting installment of the Motorcycle Lecture Series.

Upcoming speakers include Peter Gagan, President of the Antique Motorcycle Club of America, on November 13 and land speed racer Scott Beairsto on November 27.

Lectures are included in a general admission ticket, and are a great complement to Life & Times of the Motorcycle, an exhibit featuring 150 motorcycles from the past 100 years of motorcycling. This exhibit is on display until September 17, 2006.

Admission is $9 for adults, $7 for youth and $5 for children. Children six and under are admitted free. Hours of operation are 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tuesday to Sunday. The museum is located two kilometres west of Wetaskiwin on Highway 13, and is one of 18 provincial historic sites and museums operated by Alberta Community Development.
